Decline of The Amount of People in Extreme Poverty for East Asia-Pacific, Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia

The number of people in extreme poverty has declined an incredibly large amount from 1990 to 2015.

There were 1.9 billion people in Sub-Saharan Africa, East Asia-Pacific, and South Asia in 1990 and in 2105 there are around 700-800 million in extreme poverty.

Extreme poverty here is defined as living on less than $1.90 a day, adjusted for the differences in currencies between different countries (PPP) and cost of living (inflation).

Stronger economic growth in less developed countries most likely due to the globalization and offshoring of lower income jobs in more developed countries to less developed countries has been one of the main reasons for the decline.
